The Atlanta heat shimmered above the courts at the 2024 Hotlanta Sizzler when Xersalyn and Reggie arrived, each had registered for the 50-and-over mixed doubles event but needed a partner. The tournament organizers matched them together. Although Xersalyn and Reggie already knew each other, this was their first time playing as a team.

They had won the 50-and-over mixed doubles title—and, without realizing it, something even more important had begun.
